Discover quantum physics as a family by exploring the invisible world of the tiniest particles through games and experiments related to art. Both in the smallest particles of matter and at the huge scale of galaxies which our eyes cannot see, the universe is quantum. And the quantum world follows surprising and mysterious rules, which are unfamiliar to us. It is thanks to quantum physics that we have technologies such as lasers, microwaves, and mobile phones. And now we can also play and learn through quantum physics as a family!

In this activity, you will discover some truly amazing ideas: How things can be both wave and particle simultaneously; how in the quantum world nothing is in an exact place until you observe it; or how particles can be connected over a distance. In short, quantum physics describes a world where the usual rules do not apply, and objects can behave in ways that seem magical.

What are the smallest things we know about? How can we see them? We will explore the concept of scale, and, with the help of special lasers and materials, we will observe the tiniest,  discovering what we cannot see with the naked eye. There will also be some thought-provoking challenges designed to spark your imagination by building a bridge between art and science: How can we draw the sounds of our voice? What shapes are produced by the vibrations of music? Through this activity, we will boldly embrace this world of uncertainty and enjoy the “micro and macro” levels, changing the way we look at the world.

Running parallel to the exhibition Quantum Visions at the Tabakalera International Center for Contemporary Culture in Donostia/San Sebastián, this collaboration aims to increase our understanding of concepts related to particle physics, contextualizing them in relation to the thought and work of artists who offer us their insight into a world whose understanding often defies our logic. This activity is organized thanks to our strategic partnership with the Department of Science, Universities, and Innovation of the Basque Government.
